The 4th Philippine International Open Memory Championship drew some of the world’s finest mental athletes to Manila in a gripping two-day event held from June 10–11, 2017. This prestigious competition showcased the power of the human mind across multiple disciplines of memory sport, attracting both international and local competitors from a wide range of age groups.
China’s Su Zehe emerged as the overall champion, demonstrating exceptional skill with a commanding total of 7027 points (6118 under current standards). Close behind were fellow Chinese mental athletes Zou Lujian with 6698 points (5762) and Gan Kaoyuan with 6417 points (5558), securing second and third places, respectively.
Local memory athlete Erwin G. Balines proudly represented the Philippines, securing 4th place with 5884 points (5154), while Jamyla Domingo Lambunao, also from the Philippines, topped the Juniors division with a remarkable 5229 points (4619), placing her 5th overall.
